In the threshold spaces the angle and position of the chair can designate the sitters point of address to the world, whilst one chair looks straight ahead to the bridging device of the path, other chairs can hide behind various objects still be under the roof line which cover the porch or verandah.

The hidden chair can reveal a timid nature, not wanting to be seen, hidden behind a shrub it engages the seer in the psychoanalysis of the positioner and the positioned.

Other chairs positioned on the threshold as though to contemplate a potted plant, aligning these two positions with one of contemplation, as in the contemplation of the ornamental Japanese gardens.
